STEVE EARLE SOLO AND ACOUSTIC w/ EMILY EARLE
@ City Winery | 8pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages
Alternative country legend Steve Earle is playing a sold-out two-night stand at City Winery this weekend in support of his new record Terraplane. Earle’s sixteenth album was recorded in Nashville, and sees him paying homage to the blues greats he listened to growing up in Texas. Earle’s songs have been recorded by the likes of Johnny Cash and the Pretenders, as he’s spent his long career mining the traditions of American roots music and combining those sounds with an alternative rock edge. We’ve seen Louisiana singer-songwriter Kristin Diable several times recently, including a Nashville Sunday Night and a Tuesday No Country Presents showcase at Acme Feed & Seed. Her excellent new album, Create Your Own Mythology, was produced by Dave Cobb and released last month. Also on the bill is Anderson East, who has also been performing around town quite a bit lately, including as the opener for Sturgill Simpson last Sunday night. Kristin recently performed “Honey, Leave The Light On” on the reassembled CBGB stage at YouTube Studios in New York. [JMo]

THE LONE BELLOW w/ ODESSA
@ Exit/In | 9pm | SOLD OUT | 18+
After quickly creating a name for themselves here in Nashville with stints at The Basement and Live on the Green last year, it’s no surprise that The Lone Bellow’s show at Exit/In tonight is sold out. If you were fortunate enough to get tickets, brace yourself to be moved by the trio’s beautiful harmonies and heartfelt lyrics. You might even want to bring some tissues, too. Lord knows I’ll be crying. [MG]

Dreamy pop sounds dominate The High Watt tonight as Northern California acts Craft Spells and The Bilinda Butchers join forces with local pop outfit, The Keeps. The sunny lush sounds are just about perfect to get you out of the lull of being snowed in for two days. Have a listen to “Nausea” from Craft Spells below to see what we’re talking about. [MH]
LUKE ROBERTS w/ SUN SEEKER, PHANTOM FARMER

GLADYS KNIGHT
@ TPAC | 8pm | $40-85 | All Ages
Yes, you read that correctly. The Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight, will be performing tonight over at TPAC, and somehow this show isn’t quite sold out yet. You probably remember Knight from her success with Gladys Knight and the Pips, a highly successful group with Motown Records back in the 1970s and ’80s. This show represents a rare chance to see a living legend, and we definitely encourage considering checking out Gladys Knight if you’ve got the cash. [JS]

STEVE EARLE SOLO AND ACOUSTIC w/ THE MASTERSONS
@ City Winery | 8pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages
This is the second night of Steve Earle‘s two-night stand at City Winery, but if you weren’t lucky enough to grab tickets already it looks like you might not make it to see the singer-songwriter play tracks from his new blues record (though the City Winery’s waitlist is an option). Earle was famously tutored by Townes Van Zandt, served time in prison for narcotics possession, and was a guest star on HBO’s The Wire at different points in his colorful career founding and expanding the alt country genre. [JSa]

SUNDAY
HOUNDMOUTH w/ TWIN LIMB
@ 3rd & Lindsley | 8pm | $12 | All Ages
We last saw Houndmouth when they blew us away opening for the Drive-By Truckers at the Ryman in October. So, we are very excited to see them headlining this week’s Nashville Sunday Night show at 3rd & Lindsley. We love these shows because they start on time, earlier than most, feature great bands for a reasonable cover and Yeungling’s are $2. Opening is Twin Limb, a band formed in 2013 that is also from the Louisville area with a sound that is billed as a “heavy dose of dark, layered, almost psychedelic folk”. Houndmouth will be returning to the Late Show with David Lettterman on March 31. Their headlining tour also includes performances at Bonnaroo, Hangout and Forecastle festivals this summer. Check out the video for “Sedona” off Houndmouth’s new album which will be out March 17th. [JMo]

This week’s Sunday Post features local punk rocker, and former No Country contributor, Lauren Strange, and heavy rockers The Dead Deads for starts. Get their early for all the merriment, what do you have to lose? [JR]
