While Nashville is our home base and primary area of focus, we currently have our sights set a little north. Louisville, to be exact, for the annual Forecastle Fest. We spent a good chunk of last week letting you know more about local acts making the trek this weekend (and will continue our Forecastle coverage this week), and we still found time to bring you plenty local show previews and reviews, news about some exciting fall events, song and video releases, and more. In case you missed anything, here’s a recap of everything we covered:

  • NEWS: Americana Music Association announced that it will honor Jackson Brown, Loretta Lynn, and more with Lifetime Achievement Awards this fall!
  • NEWS: tUnE-yArDs announced a fall show at Marathon Music Works.
  • NEWS: SXSW began accepting artist submissions for 2015.
  • NEWS: Beck announced a recorded version of Song Reader featuring several fellow Forecastle headliners!
  • NEWS: Brand New announced their first Nashville date in years at War Memorial Auditorium.

  • SHOW: Another week of Nashville Dancin’ continued with Dumpstaphunk, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Terrance Simien and more!
  • SHOW: The Bluefields played two sets at The High Watt!
  • SHOW: Chalaxy performed at new Donelson venue Phat Bites with Mom and Dad, Creature Comfort, and The Suez!
  • SHOW: The Goddamn Gallows and Buzzard Wagon took over Exit/In.
  • SHOW: Music City Roots made the move to Franklin with Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and more.
  • SHOW: Fucked Up performed at Exit/In with Cy Barkley & the Way Outsiders and JAWWS.
  • RELEASE: Steelism released “Cat’s Eye Ring” from their upcoming full length.
  • RELEASE: Little Daylight dropped their album ahead of an August show Mercy Lounge.
  • RELEASE: Rock n’ rollers That’s My Kid  released not one, but TWO new singles!
  • RELEASE: Vinyl Thief premiered another single from their upcoming album, Fathoms.
  • RELEASE: Maggie Chapman got patriotic on her new single “Wonder Woman.”
  • VIDEO: The War On Drugs performed on Letterman ahead of a fall show at Marathon Music Works!
