Getting a surprise early jump on festival season, Louisville’s long running Forecastle Fest, one of our favorite events year after year, announced its impressive 2017 lineup back in December, with an absolutely stacked bill of LCD Soundsystem, Weezer, Cage the Elephant, Run the Jewels, Conor Oberst, Modern Baseball, Beach Slang, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Farro, and more!

As the new year rolls on, and the fest’s July 14-16 15th anniversary return inches closer, we expected more details and a few additions to arrive, but Forecastle has managed to defy our expectations, announcing another wave of artists which includes Sturgill Simpson, Phantogram, Spoon, Capital Cities, Tycho, Real Estate, K. Flay, What So Not, Whitney, Classixx, Joseph, Chicano Batman, Jaye Jayle, Jeffrey James, Oyster Kids and *repeat repeat. Simpson, James, and *repeat repeat are, of course, among the many talented Nashville performers on bill.

An easy road trip, an impeccably well-curated and managed event, and a bargain by festival standards (especially if you buy tickets soon, while they’re still at lower price tiers), as this year’s festival options all come into focus, Forecastle feels like an enduring and unbeatable choice for residents of Tennessee, Kentucky, and beyond. Grab your tickets here, and relive last year with our full 2016 review. See you on the waterfront!
