Well, fellow Nashvillians, the time has come, and rain or shine, Gary Clark Jr. will be setting Ascend Amphitheater ablaze TONIGHT with his smoking’ hot licks. Look for up-and-comer Raury to kick things off on what promises to be a great night of rock ’n’ roll. Some tickets are still available for $30-50, but they likely won’t last, so get to it! While we have your attention, click on after the jump for more info on both performers, and we hope to see you rocking out at Ascend later tonight.

GARY CLARK JR

Few artists have risen to stardom as quickly, and as deservedly, as Gary Clark Jr. Named “Best Young Gun” by Rolling Stone’s 2011 “Best of Rock” issue, Clark is an incredibly gifted guitar player who came up playing at iconic blues bars like Antone’s in his hometown of Austin, TX. In 2012, he released his breakthrough major label debut, Blak and Blu on Warner Brothers. The album was recognized by the Recording Academy with Grammy nominations in both the rock and R&B categories for the same album in the same year, a first in the Grammys history. An insane, nearly three-year long tour schedule followed (including a great set at Bonnaroo 2015), as well as a baby with his beautiful wife, Australian model Nicole Trunfio. Gary is currently touring in support of his followup record, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, which highlights even more of his strongest talent: his guitar playing. This time, he’s focused on showcasing his versatility by once again bouncing around genres in his own distinct style. You’ll want to be there live and in person when Clark Jr. does what he does best: shreds.

RAURY

Raury Deshawn Tullis, or just Raury for short, creates music that blends genres as diverse as hip hop, folk, and indie pop/rock. This wonderful hodgepodge of sounds manifested themselves into his 2015 debut LP, All We Need, which recently cracked Billboard’s Top 100 chart. With a Lorde collaboration that’s featured on the Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack, and a single on his record featuring Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, he seems to be  making all the right moves in a young career full of potential. With such an impressive list of accomplishments behind him and a slot opening for Gary Clark Jr., it seems like the sky’s the limit for this innovative artist. Get initiated below, if you haven’t already, and get to Ascend early to enjoy his full set.

Gary Clark Jr. and Raury will perform TONIGHT (July 16) at Ascend Amphitheater. The all ages show begins at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. doors), and tickets are still available for $30-50.
