Last night, breakout local country star Chris Stapleton made his debut on Saturday Night Live, performing an inspired rendition of “Parachute,” and soulful single “Nobody to Blame,” both from his breakout 2015 freshman solo album, Traveller. Between sweeping the CMAs (where he also collaborated with Justin Timberlake), racking up Grammy nominations, nabbing unprecedented chart success, selling out three upcoming night at The Ryman, ringing in the new year downtown, and bringing the house down on both Late Night and The Tonight Show in recent months, Stapleton has not only shown his massive crossover appeal, but flexed his range and raw talent, delivering something new and impassioned with each and every appearance. For SNL, Chris was joined by Dave Cobb, the man responsible for producing Traveller, as well as other significant recent country-revivalist works by the the likes of Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson, on acoustic guitar.
