Local “big band” Kansas Bible Company have made a name for themselves since relocating to Nashville several years ago. It is partly because of their super tight grooves, and largely because of their incredibly fun live performances. So, you know our ears perk up when we hear about new tunes from this 12 piece juggernaut. Unfortunately, the holiday rush got the better of us, and we missed the December release of their latest EP, Dads Day. Better late than never though, right?
The band explained to us that the title “Dads Day” refers to a tour joke last summer when the band members were all calling each other “Dad”, and they then wittily found pictures of their fathers from around their current ages (23-27) to piece together for some pretty stellar cover art. Each of the four songs on the EP were written by different band members, which provides four very unique sounding tracks. They veer slightly from the tight pop rock that we’ve become acustomed, and awesomely explore the genres of surf rock and psychedelica. If you are a fan of KBC, you’re going to love this. The band is giving the EP away for at their bandcamp page, or you can just stream it and check out the cover art below.
