Local rockers Blank Range won last night’s inaugural 2014 Road to Bonnaroo competition, making them, technically, the only act officially confirmed so far for this year’s fest. They also marked the only group to rank among the top three in both judge and fan votes. Though Shy Guy and The Wans gave them a run for their money, Meth Dad owned the night in showmanship, and Them Vibes, Modoc, Majestico, The Get Togethers, Goodbye June, and Elise Davis all blew us away, it was Blank Range’s closing performance that truly stood out amongst, perhaps, the most competitive Road to Bonnaroo yet. Joined by Diarrhea Planet’s Emmett Miller and Evan Bird and The Apache Relay’s Mike Harris, Blank Range brought the house down for the night’s final performance, with a ferocious three-song set that can only be described as epic.

New this year, the two room setup (Mercy Lounge and The High Watt) allowed for an extra two acts and quick changeovers, giving Road to Bonnaroo a bit more momentum and better pacing. With only two weeks left to go until we get the full-on ‘Roo lineup announcement, and a month until the second (out of three) Road to Bonnaroo round, we can practically hear the farm calling us. Congrats Blank Range, we’ll see you in Manchester!
