Bethany Cosentino’s Best Coast (along with multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, and former Vivian Girls drummer Ali Koehler) has had a meteoric rise through the indie conscious for the past couple of years.  Her Crazy For You album (via Mexican Summer) has brought significant critical acclaim from Spin, UK’s Guardian, and Pitchfork granted her the 39th spot in their 50 top albums of 2010.  The single “Boyfriend” has been in constant rotation on alternative and independent radio outlets around the country (if those even exist anymore).  Best Coast’s surfy, lo-fi, noise pop is probably way different from the music she grew up with (her father is a professional drummer who reportedly played with funk masters WAR!), but that hasn’t funked up Best Coast.

Best Coast has been touring with Cults, Wavves, & The Decemberists (though, unfortunately not when they play the Ryman later this summer).  Best Coast will be swinging through Bonnaroo along with the latter two of her touring partners.  She also just covered Bonnaroo artist Loretta Lynn’s “Fist City”.  Hmmmm, wouldn’t it be cool if they did a little diddy together?  You can check Bethany and Best Coast out on Thursday (6/9) from 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM at The Other Tent for some perfect summertime jams in the sure to be sweltering Tennessee heat.

You can find out more about Best Coast at the Bonnaroo artist page, the Mexican Summer website, and you can read an interview with Bethany by MTV’s Hive about Bonnaroo, Loretta Lynn, and other stuffs.  They were also dubbed a “not-to-miss band” at Bonnaroo by Paste Magazine and Rolling Stone.

An iTunes session that Best Coast performed is below, and includes the Loretta Lynn cover as well as some of the biggest hits from her Crazy For You album.
