Nashville based songwriter and alt-pop artist Sam Tinnesz originally caught our attention with his full band project Wave & Rome, and now he’s stepping out on his own as a solo artist with upcoming debut LP Babel. The move comes as Tinnesz rides a wave of movie trailer placements that include Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Walking Dead, and The Hunger Games. We have the single “Legends Are Made” streaming exclusively here at No Country for New Nashville ahead of its release on Friday.
Produced by the fellow Nashvillian Matthew Bronleewe, “Legends Are Made” pulls from Tinnesz’s cinematic songwriting experience. Armed with blockbuster samples, anthemic vocal hooks and booming guitars, Tinnesz throws down the gauntlet to forge an alt-rock anthem. The dark, driving track recalls the pop shift Imagine Dragons pivoted towards this year.
Tinnesz says, “This song is definitely one of my favorites and by far the most aggressive off the LP. I wanted to write something that was an anthem for the underdogs and just something about the experience of digging deep and pulling out the best we have inside.”
Babel is set for an Aug. 25 release. To tide you over, take a listen to “Legends Are Made” below.
