Beyond a stripped down Christmas Sampler (that brightened our holidays immensely), we haven’t heard a ton around Music City from local rock outfit Thelma And The Sleaze, since their well publicized (and, well, awesome) Kandyland tour that they embarked on last February. The interesting and ambitious intra-city tour saw the gals playing nightly for a month, at some unlikely venues, such as a laundromat and a McDonalds parking lot to name a few. The rest of 2016 saw the band spend a significant amount of time on the road, before the grueling year ultimately imploded the previous lineup. Not to fear rock lovers, front woman Lauren “LG” Gilbert is off to an incredibly strong start to 2017. She assembled a new TATS band to keep the touring legacy alive, released a cassingle ft. vocals from Tristen and Jessie Friendman, recorded a split 7″ with Dogs Of Oz, and announced a release show for the Seth Graves directed documentary of the now famed Kandyland tour that is set to be released on Jan. 13.
The release show will take place at Little Harpeth Brewing on Friday, Jan. 13, and will feature a screening of Kandyland: The Movie followed by performances from TATS, BUTTHOLE, and Greyson Anderson (of Dogs of Oz). $10 at the door will get you into the show with a limited edition vinyl of the split 7″. Head below to check out the first trailer to surface from the upcoming local rock doc.
