South African born, Nashville based alt-rockers Civil Twilight have had quite the summer.  Touring in support of their latest record, Story Of An Immigrant, they just wowed crowds at Bonnaroo, and are currently out with Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness.  The band is gearing up to release an acoustic version of Story Of An Immigrant on July 15, and the reworked record will feature bonus tracks, including a stripped down cover of Billy Idol’s 80s hit “Dancing With Myself.”

Front man Steven McKellar told Consequence of Sound about the decision to cover the track.  “I was sitting down with a friend of mine listening to that song one day. He read me the lyrics while the song was playing, and I just thought they were so beautiful. They struck me in a way that they never had before. I thought, ‘This song would make such a beautiful ballad.’ So we decided to record it that way, really sparse and sensitive.”

Head below to check out the track, and stay tuned, as a local date seems inevitable for the fall.
