Get your pizza on, as well as your rock ’n’ roll, when Lightning 100 local artist of week, That’s My Kid, rips it up at Soulshine tonight. While you’re at it, be sure to read all about their EP release at Grimey’s, which went down last weekend. We can taste the ‘za and hear the tunes already! [JR]
BENEFIT FOR BRITTANY’S ROAD TO RECOVERY ft. THEM VIBES, DEDRIC & THE SOCIAL ANIMALS, ISAAC HAYDEN
@ 12th & Porter | 9pm | DONATION | 18+
Brittany Halstead is a force of good in Franklin, TN. She works with children with disabilities by doing therapeutic horseback riding. A life long lover of horses, Brittany was traveling in Argentina in December to further research potential partners for the Saddle Up foundation when she was in a horrible car crash. She had to be airlifted back to the US to receive treatment, which alone costs almost $100,000. Needless to say, she is going to need all the support she can get to make it through. Head to 12th & Porter tonight, for what is sure to be a special benefit, and, if you can’t make it, you can make a donation here. [MH]
HEYROCCO, CONCORD AMERICA, CHIEF SCOUT, ARC & STONES, GUNTHER DOUG
@ Queen Ave Art Collective | 9pm | $5
If you’re looking for a cool, off the radar event for an affordable price, East Nashville DIY space the Queen Avenue Art Collective is hosting a pretty sweet bill of touring acts and locals alike, featuring Heyrocco, Concord America, Chief Scout, Arc & Stones, and Gunther Doug. Unequivocally one of the weekend’s best values, the indie and garage rock and pop will surely help you kick off your weekend on a high note. [PO]
OMEGA SWAN w/ MOUNT & LION, ASHERIA
@ The End | 9pm | $5 | 18+
Rocker trio Omega Swan has a busy weekend ahead, and it’s kicking off with this show at The End. The indie group has been in the process of recording new music since the release of their album Omega Swan – OS -1 back in 2013, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they presented some new material at the Friday night show, which is part of the Crossing the River concert series. [BM]
JELLY ROLL w/ JR MOORE
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $10 | 18+
Hailing from nearby Antioch, rapper Jelly Roll has been a fixture in the Nashville hip hop scene for nearly a decade, developing a voice which personifies life in the south. Joined by JR Moore, the dynamic rapper will rock the Exit/In this weekend, for his first hometown show in a minute. [PO]
SONS OF ZEVON
@ 3rd & Lindsley | 9pm | $10 | All Ages
Do you ever know about a show, but you don’t to tell everyone about it to ensure that it doesn’t get too popular and lose it’s underground cool factor? That’s exactly how you should think of Sons Of Zevon. For those not in the know, a practical dream team of Nashville musicians pull off a night of insane covers of songs from the seventies. The catch? All of the songs have to come from the same year. Tonight, the crew is led by usual standouts Jamie Rubin, Audley Freed, Kevin Hornback, Jen Gunderman, and Marc Pisapia, but you can expect a ton of cameos for what is an event you will be telling everyone you know about on Monday. I cringe as I share the secret, but, do yourself a favor and get over to 3rd & Lindsley tonight. [MH]
DIAMOND CARTER w/ THE FUTURE, FRANCES & THE FOUNDATION, FAREWELL FLIGHT, YUMI & THE SYSTEM AND MORE
@ Mercy Lounge/The High Watt | 8pm | $5 | 18+
Two venues, eight bands, for just $5! You’d be pretty damn hard pressed to find a better deal and a better night of music. Look for No Country Presents alum Diamond Carter (read this post), local indie pop-rockers The Future, East Nashville indie alt-rockers Frances & The Foundation and many more to blow you away for the cost of a PBR tallboy. [JR]

LINKIN PARK w/ RISE AGAINST, OF MICE & MEN
@ Bridgestone Arena | 7pm | $59.50-89.50 | All Ages
We gave you the rundown on this show last week, and gave away a pair of tickets, but, if you missed it, nu metal pioneers turned experimental rockers Linkin Park are back with their heaviest, most traditionally rock album in years, and, out in support of it, they’re employing the help of seminal punk group Rise Against and metalcore upstarts Of Mice & Men. If you haven’t checked in on the band in a few years, now might be the time, because they’re making some of the most interesting music of their ever-evolving career these days. [PO]
DYNAMO w/ NAUGHTY PROFESSOR
@ The End | 8pm | $10 | 18+
Funky, R&B jazz ensemble Dynamo will be headlining a great show at one of our favorite dives, The End, and you should be there! Get there early for fellow funksters and New Orleans acid jazz guru’s Naughty Professor. You can thank us afterwards for making your Saturday as funky as possible. [JR]
BAHAMAS w/ FIELD REPORT
@ Mercy Lounge | 9pm | SOLD OUT| 18+
If you didn’t manage to catch Bahamas back when they played The High Watt a few months back, you’ve got another chance coming up to see this awesomely chilled out band. The group recently released a fantastic new album, titled Bahamas Is Afie… While the record itself presents an intimate look into the life of Bahamas songwriter Afie Jurvanen, the live show to dives even deeper into this musician’s fascinating mind. Unfortunately for you procrastinators, this one is already sold out! [JS]
TETHERBALL w/ THE GILLS, CHARLIE WHITTEN, SOFT CRUSH
@ The High Watt | 8pm | $7 | 18+
If you haven’t gotten on the TETHERBALL train, you are behind the curve. This is one of those great local bills, and is a definite option for a low dough show. [MH]
TWO HOUSES, SHEEP SHIFTER, WATCHER
@ Springwater Supper Club | 9pm | 21+
Looking for a great way to spend your Saturday night? Well, look no further. Chicago natives Two Houses will be joined by Sheep Shifter and Watcher over at Springwater Supper Club. For the initiated, Two Houses plays indie rock with just a touch of punk, synthesizing an aggressive yet accessible rock sound. This is sure to be one heck of a show, so get there at 9 sharp to check out all the acts. [JS]
CHUCK RAGAN w/ BILLY THE KID
@ City Winery | 8pm | $15-20 | All Ages
Folk punk Chuck Ragan first rose to prominence as the frontman of Florida band Hot Water Music more than two decades ago, but, in recent years, has developed a reputation for being a skilled and expansive folk singer-songwriter, championing the popular, annual Revival Tour. It’s crazy that he’s performing in a setting like City Winery, but completely well-deserved. Come watch Chuck bring a little punk flair to one of Nashville’s best new show spaces, with support from Billy the Kid. [PO]
SUNDAY
STRAND OF OAKS w/ FLY GOLDEN EAGLE
@ 3rd & Lindsley | 8pm | $10 | All Ages
Is it just me, or does it seem like the Nashville Sunday night lineups are getting stronger and stronger? I would pay money to see either one of these artists alone, but together?!?! Phew. Timothy Showalter (aka Strand Of Oaks) dropped a gem with this year’s release HEAL, and I could (and actually have) listen to Fly Golden Eagle‘s latest release Quartz on repeat all day long. [MH]
SKY TEMPLE BLUES, SHOW BABY, THE CUNNING, HEATHEN SONS
@ The Basement | 8pm | FREE | 21+
Make your Sunday funday a day to remember, and don’t spend a ton of dough doing it. Local rockers Sky Temple Blues headline this FREE show, with support from Show Baby, No Country Presents alum The Cunning (see this post), and local Americana rock ’n’ rollers Heathen Sons. It’s The Basement’s usual Sunday Post showcase offerings, so craft beer will be available for just $2.50 a pop! We told you it would be fun AND cheap. [JR]

@ fooBAR | 7pm | FREE | 21+
Local bangers (pun intended) Bang Ok Bang, Heavy Sole and Secret Club take over fooBAR on Sunday night for a free show. If you need to rock and roll on Sunday (or maybe you are just still drunk there from Saturday night), this is a guaranteed good time on the east side. [MH]
