Americana Music Association

The 13th Annual Americana Music Association Honors and Awards Show takes place tonight, Wednesday, September 17 at 7PM from the historic Ryman Auditorium with over 20 performances by some of Americana’s biggest acts.  After the show, be sure to check out some of the great music being held at more than ten venues around town.

AMERICANA HONORS & AWARDS

Each year, the Americana Music Association honors distinguished members of the music community. Six member-voted awards and several Lifetime Achievement Awards are handed out while over 2000 artists, music-loving fans and entertainment industry executives look on.  Rosanne Cash, Robert Ellis, and Jason Isbell lead with three nominations each for Artist, Album and Song of the Year.  Check out our previous coverage of this year’s Americana Music Awards Presenters and Performers.  The Americana Honors and Awards show will be hosted by Jim Lauderdale and feature a house band led by Buddy Miller that includes Don Was, Joachim Cooder, Tim Lauer, The McCrary Sisters and legend Ry Cooder.   Entry to the Americana Honors & Awards at the Ryman is for badge holders only.

AMERICANAFEST

Some highlights of tonight’s lineup include Sturgill Simpson at the City Winery, Robbie Fulks at the High Watt, Rhett Miller at Mercy Lounge, Humming House at The Basement, Packway Handle Band at the Rutledge and The Bluegrass Situation Late Night Windup at the Station Inn.  Wristbands allow access to all shows at each venue (Mercy Lounge, The Cannery Ballroom, The High Watt, City Winery, The Basement, 3rd and Lindsley, The Rutledge, the Listening Room, Station Inn, Third Man Records, and the Downtown Presbyterian Church) all four nights (9/17 – 9/20).  Tickets for individual showcases are $20; however, only provide access to that one venue.  In the event of a line, priority goes to laminate badge wearers, the wristband wearers, then individual ticket holders.   The Basement has a 21+ age policy.  The Mercy Lounge, Cannery Ballroom, The High Watt, and The Rutledge are 18+ venues.  The Station Inn welcomes under age 21 with parents.  City Winery, 3rd & Lindsley, and The Listening Room are 18+ (under 18 allowed with parents) as long as you are not sitting at the bar.

Be sure to check out our previous coverage of this year’s Americana Music Festival news such as the Partial Lineup Announcement, the Expanded Lineup, Festival Schedule Released and Riverfront Park Lineup.

The shows tonight are at the Cannery Ballroom, Mercy Lounge, High Watt, City Winery, The Basement, The Rutledge, and Station Inn,  and begin starting at 10PM (doors at 9PM).  Tickets for some events may be available at the door. Weekend wristbands are still available for $50, and individual show tickets can be purchased at the door for $20, space permitting after badges and wristbands have entered.
