Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup.  We’ll start from the bottom and work our way up, paying special attention to the smaller and lesser known acts on this year’s bill. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Band of the Day…

LEARN

A lot has happened to Nashville-based electronic duo Cherub since their last Bonnaroo outing, in 2012. The group, which consists of Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber, have become festival staples, gracing the stages of SXSW, Electric Forest, Hangout Fest, Snowball Music Fest, Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, Austin City Limits, Wakarusa, and more, and have toured the world and have provided direct support to some of the biggest names in contemporary dance and electronic music. Frequently cited as one of the best emerging artists in the dance music scene, Cherub have amassed major media attention from virtually every outlet, and are often pegged as one of Tennessee’s best new artists, period.

Blending acoustic and electronic tones, and drawing influence from ’80s synth pop, traditional dance pop, and older, more rock-infused electronic sounds, Cherub have set themselves apart from the current EDM landscape by being more performance/instrument-based than many of their DJ-leaning peers. Though they first began generating buzz with the release of their debut, Man of the Hour, it was Cherub’s 2012 followup, MoM & DaD that really helped them breakthrough, propelled by infectious single “Doses & Mimosas” (watch the video below). A nonstop wave of attention has followed, along with a killer 2013 followup EP, 100 Bottles, and, at the rate they’re becoming festival regulars, guesting with and remixing every worthwhile artist in the dance scene, and steadily growing in popularity with each passing release, Cherub seem poised to become headliners before you know it.
