It’s that time again. Time for us to run down our picks for the best of the best going on around town this weekend. It’s a bit of a slow burn around these parts, but that may be a good thing since we are still limping from Live On The Green and gearing up for Americanafest. Regardless, there are still quite a few note worthy shows for you to consider this weekend, and we’ve run down our staff picks for you below. Have a great weekend, and get out to see some live music.
As you’ve probably noticed, this isn’t the main site. We’ve having some technical difficulties, so, while we get those sorted out, we want to welcome you to our new Tumblr. Feel free to follow, as we’ll be syndicating some content here in the future. The site should be back to normal soon! You’ll find the same old TWiN after the jump!

FRIDAY
MARC SCIBILIA
@ Soulshine Pizza | 7pm (5-7pm Happy Hour) | Free | All Ages
New York native but long time Nashville resident, Marc Scibilia is certainly no slouch when it comes to songwriting. Sony picked him up recently, and that is no surprise to us either after seeing him growing from New Faces Nite at the Basement to MTV. You can check out the MTV video below, and you can check Marc out in person tonight for free at Soulshine Pizza as Lightning 100’s Artist Of The Week. [MH]
DINNER AND A SUIT w/ OAKLYNN, WILD SUN
@ The High Watt | 9pm (8pm doors) | $10 | 18+
Local passionate piano pop/rockers Dinner & the Suit take the stage with fellow Nashville bands Oaklynn and Wild Sun tonight at the High Watt. Oaklynn is literally a band of brothers who combine smooth vocals with creative synths and dance-y beats, while Wild Sun also echo heavy influence from new wave bands as well as contemporary bands like The Killers, making this a cohesive lineup of some of the best current alt/pop acts in Nashville. [LS]
SHANNON LABRIE w/ EMILY WEST, JESSICA CAMPBELL, REBECCA ROUBION
@ 12th & Porter | 9pm (8pm doors) | $5 | 18+
Stroooooong female bill here. We saw the soulful Shannon LaBrie as a contestant at the Road To Bonnaroo contest a while back, Emily West literally sent chills up my spine when she joined KS Rhoads at East Nashville Underground, and Campbell & Roubion are showing up on bills all over town. Love lovely music? This is your pick. [MH]
MV & EE w/ BEN SPINKS, SUPERMELT, THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS
@ The Stone Fox | 9pm | $7 | 18+
MV & EE, a Vermont musical collective centered around duo Matt Valentine (MV) and Erika Elder (EE), are spaced out, folky, psychedelic, and downright hard to pin down. What I can say, however, is that they’re a real musical treat, and with a bill that includes Supermelt, and The Cherry Blossoms, they’re a band you don’t want to miss! [PO]

SATURDAY
THE KINGSTON SPRINGS, THE FLOORWALKERS, THE BLACK CADILLACS
@ Musicians Corner | 12pm | Free | All Ages
Nashville favorites The Kingston Springs are slated to rock the Musician’s Corner stage in Centennial Park. Between our coverage of their set during the latest East Nashville Underground, our post on their Daytrotter session, or our many announcements of their new materials, it’s no surprise that those of us around No Country love these guys. You can show your support for them by showing up for their free show this Saturday! [JS]
YIP DECEIVER, WILD CUB, METH DAD, TERROR PIGEON DANCE REVOLT, LINEAR DOWNFALL, CASHATT, LEVI RAY, EL EL, CRAYONS & ANTIDOTES
@ The High Watt & Mercy Lounge | 9pm (Doors 8pm) | $8 | 18+
Look at that linuep. Just look at it! If this show – which literally came together last minute – isn’t the show of the weekend, I don’t know what is. We’ve been raving about El EL lately, and, if they’re not reason enough for you to check out a solid 2-venue bill for just $8, this is quite possibly going to be your last chance to catch Wild Cub before they move out west. Check ‘em out below! [PO]
DIRTY BEACHES w/ SISU, ELL V GORE
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $15 | 18+
One man wunderkind Dirty Beaches will once more bring his hypnotic, sample based tunes to the stage at Exit/In. Joining him in musical exploration is fellow soundscape builders SISU and Ell V Gore. In all, this promises to be a pretty tripped out show, and will most certianly be no other concert you’ve been to before. [JS]
KEEPS w/ STAYING FOR THE WEEKEND, HOT FOX
@ The End | 8pm | $5 | 18+
Belmont bands Keeps, Staying for the Weekend, and Hot Fox will be throwing down at The End this Saturday. The show is an EP release show for Keeps, whose new EP Rift will be available at the show. SFTW also have some new music in the works, though whether or not the Bonnaroo veterans will play their new material live is still up for debate. [JS]
DIAMOND CARTER w/ MILKTOOTH, STAGOLEE, THE JOINERS
@ The 5 Spot | 9pm | $5 | 21+
It’s a powerful and diverse bill over on the east side on Saturday night when the soulful Diamond Carter, rockin’ Milktooth, twangish Stagolee, and bluesy The Joiners complete a bill that has something for everyone…. especially those that don’t want to leave the comfort of the east side. [MH]

SUNDAY
PHOSPHORESCENT w/ THE LONELY WILD
@ 3rd and Lindsley | 8pm (6pm doors) | $15 | All Ages
Phosphorescent return to Nashville with one of our fav up and comers, The Lonely Wild, to headline this week’s Nashville Sunday Night at 3rd & Lindsley. Even if you didn’t win tickets in the giveaway we ran earlier this week, you should still grab some friends and head down for this fantastic alt/indie/folk lineup, and grab a copy of The Lonely Wild’s latest LP, The Sun as It Comes. [LS]
FASTBALL w/ 650 NORTH, THE EASTHILLS
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $10 | 18+
I admittedly haven’t kept up with alt rockers Fastball much beyond their breakout ’90s hit “The Way,” and I’d wager you probably haven’t either (or, if you have, you probably already know about this show, you superfan, you). But still, for the $10 price tag, this one might be worth the trek to Elliston Place, for nostalgia’s sake alone! [PO]
[JS] Jack Smith
[JG] Jared Godar
[JM] Jessika Malone
[LS] Lauren Strange
[MH] Matt Hall
[OF] Olivia Fay
[PO] Philip Obenschain
