DCXVBdayBash-620

Nashville’s premiere lifestyle brand and friends of the site DCXV (you know, the I Believe In Nashville guys), are celebrating their birthday TONIGHT, Nov. 5 at The High Watt, by hosting a totally FREE (but still 18+) concert featuring performances from buzzworthy local rappers Chancellor Warhol and Jung Youth, two artists you’ve likely seen us rave about on countless occasions. Co-sponser PBR will also be in the house offering $2 tall boys, and acclaimed local DJ Spice J will be there to make sure the dance jams never stop pumping. Read on for details below, and, even if you’re in the house for Youth Lagoon or Copeland, be sure to pop up to The High Watt to partake in some free fun!

CHANCELLOR WARHOL

By now you’ve surely heard of Chancellor Warhol, one of our favorite local performers, and one of the freshest hip hop artists to emerge in recent years period. Combining complex, synthy, and sweeping production, sharp and engaging lyricism, and raw talent in his delivery and approach to songwriting, Warhol has only further honed his craft with each subsequent release, most recently last year’s incredible Paris Is Burning. Live, Warhol is nothing short of spectacular, typically performing with a backing band, and combining an affinity for visual art, fashion, and pop culture to produce an experience like no other. A new record is forthcoming, and, while he’s been crafting it, things have been more silent than usual on Chance’s front this year (save for a recent video; watch it below). Trust us though, if we’ve learned anything from watching Warhol’s career, whatever he’s working on will not only be worth the wait, but is likely to be an outright game changer. Come see him tonight, and maybe you’ll get a preview.

JUNG YOUTH

Building quite the reputation as one of the most talented and buzzworthy acts in Nashville’s under-appreciated hip hop scene, Jung Youth, like Chance, veers more into the experimental, alternative, and expansive side of hip hop. A skilled lyricist, a technical powerhouse, and a confident performer, Jung Youth has been dropping new tracks off and on all year, and everything we hear just gets sharper and more refined; his 2016 is going to be huge.

Chancellor Warhol, Jung Youth, and Spice J will perform tonight, Nov. 5 at The High Watt. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and admission is FREE!
