Cause a Scene has been quiet this summer, but they’re making up for it with this tightly curated show. The orchestral-tinged folk-rock of Little Tybee will join forces with Milktooth‘s anthemic rock pieces. A pair of trios (think about it), Poly and The Dawn Drapes, will ease into the evening.  [WD]

FUNKY METERS W/ DEROBERT & THE HALF TRUTHS AND DJ KIDSMEAL
@ Mercy Lounge | 8pm | $20-25 | 18+

We already previewed this essential show for fans of the funk.  The Funky METERS are practically the kings of the genre, and this not to be missed show is highlighted by opening act (and perfect fit) DeRobert & The Half Truths[SJ]

SATURDAY

ALL THEM WITCHES
@ Grimey’s | 5pm | FREE | All Ages

All Them Witches is known for their psychedelta blues sound, which has been slaying us since their 2012 debut, Our Mother Electricity. The dudes are celebrating a vinyl release of their killer follow-up, Lightning At The Door, with a Grimey’s in-store. We’re starting to lose count of how many times we’ve heard “Charles William” blaring out of cars this summer, and we’re not remotely tired of it. Crank it below before grabbing your own pristine vinyl copy. [WD]

THE SOULSHINE TOUR FEATURING MICHAEL FRANTI AND SPEARHEAD, SOJA, BRETT DENNEN AND TREVOR HALL
@ Woods Amphitheater at Fontanel | 6pm | $38 | All Ages

It’s getting towards the latter half of summer, but that doesn’t mean you need to stop feeling those sunny vibes. If any musicians can get you into the “blue skies” spirit, it’s Michael Franti and Spearhead. Franti plays acoustic rock mixed with elements of hip-hop and folk, and the result sounds exactly like being on a beach somewhere sunny. It’s the perfect summer blend, and with openers like SOJABrett Dennen and Trevor Hall, the vibes will be going strong all night long. Get on out to The Woods at Fontanel, one of Nashville’s largest and most interesting outdoor venues tomorrow night to check out these fantastic acts.  [JS]

THE COLD STARES, THE CUNNING, TAYLOR SORENSON AND THE TRIGGER CODE

Distortion is the key for rockers The Cold Stares, and tracks like “Red Letter Blues” conjure memories of The White Stripes.  Local rockers The Cunning are continuing to impress on more and more bills around town.  Taylor Sorenson and The Trigger Code get this evening of rock started. [MH]

@ The Stone Fox | 9pm | $7 | 18+

There’s a lot going on this Saturday, but if you’re looking for something rather intimate with a fantastic local band, look no further than Great Peacock at The Stone Fox. The Southern rock duo has quite a history of music behind them, and there tunes come across as reflections on a life hard lived. Alabama based introspective rockers Belle Adair and local folk songwriter Erin Rae will be opening for Great Peacock, so be sure to get out there by 9 pm to get the full experience. [JS]
