The Jack White juggernaut has slowed down in the past year, after the Nashville based rocker announced that he would be “taking a break from performing live for a long period of time.” However, that hasn’t slowed White from helping to launch a record player into space, releasing a documentary on the recording industry, and, now, apparently cleaning out his vault of demos, he is set to release a 26 track compilation of acoustic recordings from The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and his solo material.

We already shared a previously unreleased White Stripes demo, “City Lights,” which was released when Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 was announced.  Now, ahead of the Sept. 9 release date, White has released an acoustic version of “Carolina Drama” from The Raconteurs’ 2008 LP, Consolers Of The Lonely.  The acoustic reworking of the track features a very stripped back and intimate arrangement that really highlights the troubling lyrics.

White has given no indication that he plans to tour this latest compilation, but he will be making an appearance on The Tonight Show on the release date.  In the meantime, dig into “Carolina Drama” below, and, for you vinyl collectors out there, check out Third Man Records sticker removal demonstration video to keep your jacket looking fresh.
