SLOW MAGIC w/ TREEKEEPER, GOLD DASH
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $12-15 | 18+
There’s no better way to unwind after a long week than with a night of hazy, DJ-produced electronica, and Exit/In has just what you need. Slow Magic’s online presence is pretty vague – they describe their music as “music made by your imaginary friend” – but their chill sound is likely to speak for itself. Make sure to get there early to catch Nashville’s own Treekeeper performing the opening set. [MG]
WALK THE MOON w/ THE GRISWOLDS
@ Cannery Ballroom | 8pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages
Walk The Moon are having a big year, with “Shut Up And Dance” blowing up radio charts across the country. Of course, Nashville’s been hip to the band for years now, so expect singalongs to “Tightrope” and “Anna Sun.” Show up early for energetic and sunny pop from The Griswolds. [WD]
MODERN ROYALS w/ INJECTING STRANGER, MELK, TAME & THE STRANGE
@ The High Watt | 9pm | $5 | 18+
No matter what kind of rock music you’re into, The High Watt has every variation of it in one place this Saturday night with the sultry blues sounds of The Modern Royals, quirky pop-rock of Injecting Strangers, lighthearted punk of Melk. and classic rock & roll of Tame And The Strange, so come out and support a lineup consisting mostly of Nashville bands. [MG]
ALANNA ROYALE, BOOM FOREST, MR STEVE THE MUSIC MAN, PHIN
@ The Basement East | 8pm | $10 | 21+
The Basement’s location in East Nashville is finally open, and now the Five Points area actually has another live music venue aside from the 5 Spot. Close proximity to a venue with shows put together by Grimey himself is definitely something people who live on the east side should be excited about. After free nights of music on Wednesday and Thursday to kick things off, the first official ticketed event stars soul singer and longtime love of this site Alanna Royale, indie pop band Phin, experimental folk rocker Boom Forest, and kids entertainer Mr. Steve, the Music Man. [JSa]
TEN OUT OF TENN
@ Ryman Auditorium | 8pm | $25-35 | All Ages
It’s Ten Out of Tenn‘s ten year anniversary and they’ve opted to celebrate it at one of Nashville’s most revered and sacred places, The Ryman Auditorium. Tickets are still available and at $25-$35 you absolutely cannot go wrong. You can find a full rundown of the artists in our preview for the show, but here’s a sample of what’s to come. [BM]
THE DEFIBULATORS w/ ANDREW LEAHEY AND THE HOMESTEAD
@ The 5 Spot | 9pm | $5 | 21+
Although The Defibulators play a modern, folk-infused twist on country music that fits perfectly in the Nashville music scene, the group are actually based out of Brooklyn. However, they’ll be stopping by the Five Point with Andrew Leahey to play their unique take on the country and folk genres. We don’t often country shows on this site, but these guys play it in a unique and talented manner that we’re big fans of. Get out there by 9 pm to catch both acts for just $5! [JS]
THE LOWER CAVES w/ YUMI AND THE SYSTEM, DEL MAR
@ The Basement | 9pm | $5 | 21+
We’ve been excited about Yumi and the System for awhile, having recently premiered their latest video and loved their alternative-industrial dark tunes as well as their highly visual live show. They’re playing the Basement with indie rockers the Lower Caves and soul and hip-hop influenced rockers Del Mar. [JSa]
ROADKILL GHOST CHOIR w/ SUDONISTAS, PHANTOM FARMER
@ The Stone Fox | 9pm | $10 | 18+
Florida natives Roadkill Ghost Choir are bringing their gritty, southern rock through Nashville at the Stone Fox this Friday night. After appearances at Bonnaroo and Communion club nights in the last couple of years, we’re happy to see them back in our neighborhood in support of their latest album, In Tongues. [MG]

@ City Winery | 8pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages

LIL DICKY w/ CASHATT
@ Exit/IN | 9pm | $15-75 | 18+
You may have already heard of Lil Dicky due to the controversy surrounding his career. The white hip hop artist is very open about racial issues and constantly pokes fun of the fact that all modern rap music caters mostly to black audiences. He has become infamous for his his jibes at black culture and celebration of white privilege, due largely to the inability of many critics and fans to tell if Lil Dicky is being satirical or not. Regardless, it’s decent music, and he’ll be supported by a killer opener, Cashatt, in this awesome show at Exit/In. If you’re a fan of modern rap, this show is right up your alley. [JS]
TONY WEEKS BAND w/ DUTCH WHISKY
Turn One | 9pm | 21+
Tony Weeks and the Tony Weeks Band (featuring Tony Weeks) hit Turn One in East Nashville in support of their new live album, Endings Are Our Specialty. Joining them are Super Country legend Dutch Whisky. Check out Dutch and the band’s live performance of “Hot Mess”. [JMo]

@ Mercy Lounge | 8pm | $10 | 18+
If you’re hankering for soul, funk, pop, and rap this weekend, Mercy Lounge has it all in one band with The Lonely Biscuits. Big ups to the group for always pulling off that diverse blend without ever approaching novelty territory. Road to Bonnaroo winner Chrome Pony melted our faces at a recent Acme showcase, and Keeps are kicking off the night with psychedelic dreamrock. [WD]
BAAK GWAI w/ STEP SISTERS, HANS CONDOR
@ The Basement | 9pm | $5 | 21+
Tuscaloosa, AL, rock ’n’ roll three piece Baak Gwai are headlining a high octane, but low dough, showcase tonight at The Basement. Also on the bill, local garage psych-rockers Step Sisters, and resident free wheeling punks Hans Condor. With their forces combined, be prepared to receive the greatest $5 throat punch of awesome you’ve ever had! [JR]

@ The High Watt | 9pm | $5 | 18+
Guided By Voices tribute band Teenage FBI are playing The High Watt with the minimalist duo Mystery Twins, composed of one half of Nashville underground legends The Clutters, and The Prudish Few, a rock group fronted by former drummer for The Carter Administration and the Century Club Todd Kemp. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Mystery Twins and loved their spooky aesthetic and harmonies. [JSa]

@ 3rd & Lindsley | 8pm | $15 | All Ages
Iconic Texas songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard headlines this week’s Nashville Sunday Night show in support of his 16th album (third on his Bordello Records label, via Thirty Tigers), The Ruffian’s Misfortune, which was released earlier this month. @ Exit/In | 9pm | $10-12 | 18+
Roots music, mixed with soul, blues and R&B is just a taste of what The California Honeydrops have to offer with their eclectic brass infused tunes. Throw in local country flavored singer songwriter Aubrie Sellers and you have $12 well spent on a night of live music. [JR]
ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT W/ JASON ESKRIDGE
@ Marathon Music Works | 8pm | $30-$50 | 18+
While you may not be familiar with Robert Glasper’s jazz project, the Robert Glasper Experiment, you’ve undoubtedly heard some of his collaborations with big names like Kanye, Jay-Z and Erykah Badu. You may also know his as the winner of the 2012 and 2015 Grammys for R&B performance. His current project falls in place with his previous work, occupying ground somewhere between hip-hop, chill wave and R&B.
