CAPPA Debuts Stellar New Single, “Hush”

CAPPA-620

It’s been a couple of years since we first introduced you to local (by way of Philly) indie pop singer CAPPA. At the time, she was promoting a somewhat pop rock leaning and pleasantly catchy single called “Don’t Call Me Again.” In the 18 or so months since, we’ve done an admittedly lackluster job of keeping an eye on the local artist, but, lately, we’ve noticed rumblings of a new release, a definite musical departure which comes complete with a bit of a rebranding (hence the new name)- so, clearly, the now 23-year-old has been busy. We dug “Carla Cappa,” but CAPPA has us, well, captivated. Erupting back into the spotlight with a hypnotic, electronic, and edgy new single, “Hush,” CAPPA is now channeling elements of Purity Ring, Grimes, and Tegan and Sara (a style not dissimilar from former Nashville resident and site fave Chelsea Lankes – imagine, like, if Taylor Swift composed the soundtrack to Drive). This song is undoubtedly the sound of a singer confidently coming into her own as an artist, and has us listening on repeat already. CAPPA’s new EP, set for release this spring, just shot to the top of our most-anticipated list, and, without a doubt, you’ll be hearing lots, lots more from this local talent in the near future. Steam “Hush,” via SPIN, below.
