Sean Watkins, founder and guitarist for the Grammy award winning trio Nickel Creek, is on tour to support of his fourth solo album, All I Do Is Lie, with a performance at The Basement on Thursday, February 19. Local singer-songwriter, Jill Andrews, is also performing on this leg of the tour. Note this is an early performance. The show starts at 7pm, and it will run you $10 at the door.
SEAN WATKINS
Sean Watkins is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter and is best known as a member of contemporary folk band Nickel Creek with his sister Sara on violin and Chris Thile on Mandolin. He is also a member of the duo Fiction Family and the supergroup Works Progress Administration (WPA) with Glen Phillips and Luke Bulla. Watkins has released four solo albums, including All I Do Is Lie last year, which is a roots album that straddles the line between multiple genres ranging from traditional bluegrass songs to indie rock. Next month, Sean will release a split 7” featuring “Banks of the Ohio” with Fiona Apple and “Dead Flowers” with Willie Watson. Check out Sean performing “Wave As We Run”.
JILL ANDREWS
Jill Andrews began her music career in 2004 by co-founding the alt-country group, the everybodyfields. After three albums and touring the country with the band, she released her self titled EP in 2009 which was followed up by a full-length album in 2011. She just finished recording a new record, The War Inside, and is working on a release later this year. Prior to the current tour with Sean, she has been on the road with The Avett Brothers and her songs have been showcased on shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Nashville, Hart of Dixie, and American Idol. Paste Magazine recently said “Jill Andrews is one of the strongest young female songwriters around”.
