Nashville southern rock/alt-country crooner Jason Isbell and his wife and frequent collaborator Amanda Shires are set to appear on Dead Man’s Town, an upcoming tribute to Bruce Springsteen, which adopts a more toned-down acoustic approach akin to the Boss’s classic, Nebraska. For their part, Isbell and Shires reimagined ’80s heartland rock anthem “Born in the U.S.A.,” bringing to it their signature folkiness and restraint. Their gorgeous cover proves that a great song is a great song, no matter the arrangement (especially when handled by extremely talented artists), and you can give it a spin below (via Rolling Stone)! Jason’s set to play three nights this October at The Ryman, the first of which Amanda will support, but good luck getting tickets; all three performances are already sold out.
