Bonnaroo History | Newbie
Stage & Time | TBD
Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup. In addition to main stage acts, we also want to be sure to give the Club Stage bands some love, so, for the next month or so, we’re adding a second daily spotlight. They might be the smallest artists on Bonnaroo’s bill, but the Club Stage bands some of the best and most exciting up and coming acts around. As with our main stage previews, we’ll start from the bottom and work our way up. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Club Stage Band of the Day…
LEARN
Duo John and Jacob have been writing together for the better part of a decade, and have amassed an impressive array of accolades: a Billboard #1 song, an MTV O Music Awards nomination, love from Red Bull, CMT, and Lightning 100, and, most recently (and perhaps prominently), a featured song on ABC’s Nashville. Drawing from old school country, pop, and soul influences and channeling folk and rock sensibilities, the Nashville (by way of Birmingham) duo (and the rest of their band, now officially billed as members) have an organic knack for writing relatable and unpretentious tunes that are sure to appeal to fans of all genres. With only one official release, a self-titled EP which serves as more of a demo, under their belts, John and Jacob have already seen more success than many of their peers, and their debut full-length album, for which recorded recently wrapped, is expected to arrive this summer.
Upon relocating to Nashville, John and Jacob transitioned from strictly writing for themselves to co-writing with other artists, a decision which has nabbed them several certifiable hits and afforded them extra opportunities to tour the globe at such an early stage at this chapter in their career. We recently sat down with the group for an interview, where we chatted musical influences, beginnings, their co-writing career, and plans for their new album. Check it out in full right here.
