Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup.  We’ll start from the bottom and work our way up, paying special attention to the smaller and lesser known acts on this year’s bill. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Band of the Day…

LEARN

Minneapolis based Poliςa burst onto the scene quickly after their 2012 inception. Not that the former members of Gayngs and other acts like Marajuana Deathsquad & Bon Iver, wouldn’t know how to handle the success.  The alt-rock, synth wave standouts were immediately tagged as a band to watch after the release of their 2012 debut, Give You The Ghost via Totally Gross National Product.  A rerelease later in the year via new label Mom + Pop only continued to solidify their blossoming status with tracks like “Lay Your Cards Out” ending up on a number of “Best Of Lists” for the year.  Just a year later, Poliςa released their follow up LP, Shulasmith , and the first single from that effort, “Tiff” featured guest vocals from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

We first caught Poliςa at The Basement after their breakout 2012 SXSW run that had critics raving about the ethereal effect-heavy vocals of frontwoman Channy Leaneagh.  The double drum set up is a force to be reckoned with by filling the room with a crescendoing wall of noise that had us telling everyone about the show for weeks to follow.  We’ve given you plenty of warning about the follow up Nashville gigs, but, if you haven’t made it out to see Polica yet, then they should be a “must see” for you at the farm this summer.
