‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ Concert Film Coming to Theaters Oct. 13

Just weeks after wrapping her epic, months-long, record shattering North American Eras Tour (which we reviewed back in May when it stopped in Nashville), and as she begins taking the show around the world throughout the next year, before returning for another North American leg in the fall of 2024, pop megastar (and sometimes Nashvillian) Taylor Swift has announced that a concert film of the show, directed by Sam Wrench, simply dubbed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, will screen theatrically in North America this fall, beginning Oct. 13!

It was well-documented that a trio of recent shows at LA’s SoFi Stadium were being filmed professionally, however we’re surprised to see a concert film arrive while the tour is still in progress (given the outrageous demand and secondary market cost for tickets, however, this might be the only way to bring the experience to millions of fans who missed out, short of keeping the tour going for decades). Thankfully, with plenty of screenings available, which already extend as far out locally as Nov. 5, scoring a ticket to the film won’t be nearly as difficult or costly as attending the tour in person, and screenings are already on sale now through Fandango, or through the theater chains’ respective sites and apps.

Locally, there are screenings listed for every area Regal and AMC, including some in premium large format like IMAX and Dolby Cinema, and even independent theater The Belcourt will screen the film. A note from this cinephile editor: for the biggest screen experience in Nashville, the IMAX at Opry Mills is the only truly full-size IMAX screen around (the Streets of Indian Lake IMAX in Hendersonville, and Franklin AMC IMAX are big, but were retrofitted from regular-sized theaters), while the Franklin AMC Dolby Cinema screen arguably has the best sound thanks to its Dolby Atmos technology (and has a large, premium screen to boot, if not as large as the Opry Mills IMAX).

Unfortunately, if you’re a Regal Unlimited or AMC A-List member, you won’t be able to use your membership for this film, as it counts as a special event, but tickets start at $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for kids (pricing varies by location, and premium screens have an up-charge). Still, for a nearly three-hour film of the hottest tour on the planet, where tickets regularly range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, it seems like a pretty frugal way to experience it, with Swift encouraging fans in the film announcement to dress up, bring friendship bracelets, and sing and dance as they do at her concerts.

Be sure to check each day for listings from Oct. 13 (and currently through Nov. 5), as showtimes vary, especially for the IMAX, RPX, and Dolby Cinema screenings, but many dates beyond opening day still have plenty of great seats available. It’s unclear if more showings will be added, though given the demand, it seems likely (but bear in mind, some of those bigger screens might be tied up in prior studio obligations for other movies).
