It’s been over a year since local indie rock breakout Sophie Allison, better known as her musical alias Soccer Mommy, released her phenomenal third album, Sometimes, Forever– undoubtedly one of the most buzzed about records of 2022. It’s been a whirlwind of a year since, with Soccer Mommy embarking on tours, supporting some stellar artists (like her recent hometown show at Ascend Amphitheater with Maggie Rogers), popping up on collaborations (like on on fellow Nashville favorite Bully’s new LP), and, most recently, announcing an EP of of covers called Karaoke Night, due out later this month (so far she’s shared her renditions of Sheryl Crow’s “Soak Up the Sun” and Taylor Swift’s “I’m Only Me When I’m with You,” which are both delightful). Though Soccer Mommy did support Maggie Rogers at that aforementioned Ascend show over the summer, and recently made a surprise appearance for a duet with Bully at Brooklyn Bowl, Sophie hasn’t played a headlining Soccer Mommy show in Nashville since her own Brooklyn Bowl performance last November.

That’ll change soon, however, as, in between a UK run in support of The National, and some international fests in Mexico and South America, Soccer Mommy has announced a hometown show on Oct. 28 at Eastside Bowl, in honor of her favorite holiday: Halloween. Indie psych artist Avey Tare (of Animal Collective fame) and local experimental artist Total Wife will support- a killer lineup and a reflection of Soccer Mommy’s impeccable taste- and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Planned Parenthood. Sophie encourages attendees to wear costumes, and given her avowed love of all things Halloween and spooky, we’d say you should take that suggestion seriously. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. CDT right here, but there’s also a pre-sale signup going on right now on Soccer Mommy’s site. Check out her new Taylor Swift cover from Karaoke Night, below, as well as “Darkness Forever (Sophie’s Version),” which arrived last Halloween, to get you into the spirit!
