TheRegrettes2019-620

One of our favorite new bands of the past few years, young LA indie punk and garage pop outfit  The Regrettes nabbed a major label deal while still in high school, and made an incredible debut with 2017’s Feel Your Feelings Fool! They’ve been no strangers to Nashville, performing at beloved former record shop Fond Object around that time, and even stopping at Bonnaroo last year. Out in support of an even-better, brand new sophomore full-length How Do You Love?, the band are set to return to The Basement East, where they played late last year, on Sept. 27 with fellow buzzy LA up and comers Greer and local indie faves The Pressure Kids. Fall is starting off string with a string of excellent shows, and this is surely one of our most-anticipated! You can snag tickets right here while they last, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Read on for more about the show, and enter for a chance to win below.

THE REGRETTES

The latest project from precocious teenage rocker Lydia Night, Los Angeles group The Regrettes are fast establishing themselves as a formidable force in the rock scene, combining an affinity for retro pop and doo-wop with grungy, contemporary garage punk stylings, all laced with unabashedly feminist themes and riot grrrl vibes. Though definitely raw and reflective of the teenage experience, the group’s music and message are wise and relatable beyond their years, and their debut LP, 2017’s Feel Your Feelings Fool!, was a defiant, bombastic, and unapologetically honest triumph, which poisoned the band as not just the latest young group of rockers to attract some buzz, but as a likely candidate to be the next champions of the future of their scene. The couple years since have seen a well-deserved surge in attention, landing the group on the road with acts like twenty one pilots and at festivals like Bonnaroo, and after a couple of lineup shifts, The Regrettes returned their summer with a stellar sophomore LP, How Do You Love?, a more personal, earnest, poetic and cohesive work and undoubtedly their best collection of songs to date. We’ve caught the band live a handful of times over the last couple of years, and their show is always an absolute blast- whether you’ve been following them as well or are just now catching on, their headlining return to The Basement East is sure to be one of the fall’s best happenings!

GREER

Also hailing from the Los Angeles area, young rockers Greer only formed late last year, and appear only to have a few songs out so far, beginning with this year’s breezy, harmony-drenched indie tunes “Song for Me” and “Bittersweet.” Apparently named in remembrance of late Vine star Emma Greer, the band employ the same sort of retro, west coast sensibility as The Regrettes, fusing a timeless tone with more modern indie and alternative and an unwavering catchiness that should have you immediately hooked. Best we can tell, this is the band’s first time playing Nashville, so make a point to discover a new act with a lot of exciting potential!

THE PRESSURE KIDS

Opening up the show are Nashville indie rockers The Pressure Kids, who we’ve been big fans of since they first sprung onto the scene a few years ago. Formed as college freshmen in 2013, the band stirred up buzz with some early tunes and have become a regular live fixture in town over the years, but only over the last two years have they really managed to hone their sound and begin to reach a wider audience, releasing a pair of well-received singles last year, “Fever” and “Team,” before dropping their long-awaited, eponymous debut EP back in March. If you managed to sleep on this band or haven’t check in on them in a couple of years, their latest work is some of the most unique and lush indie rock coming out of Nashville right now, and you’ll definitely want to show up early and see them in action!
