Young, buzzworthy, genre-bending poppy indie outfit The Greeting Committee rose to recognition just a few years ago while still in high school, and have since continued to draw acclaim and tour prolifically, dropping their long-awaited and really fantastic debut LP, This Is It, just last fall. Though they’ve been to Nashville in recent years supporting groups like Arkells and Jukebox the Ghost, the young band’s upcoming June 13 headlining stop at The High Watt appears to be their first proper Music City headliner, and given their swiftly growing organic fanbase, their next time around might not be in a spot quite as intimate. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to snag tickets here while they last- especially if you’re not going to Bonnaroo and itching for some quality music around town instead. We’re also thrilled to announce that we’re giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan, so if you’d rather leave to chance, read on for more about the show, and enter for a chance to win tickets below!

THE GREETING COMMITTEE

Formed only a few years ago in their native Kansas City, Missouri by vocalist Addie Sartino, guitarist Brandon Yangmi, bassist Pierce Turcotte, and drummer Austin Fraser, all while still in high school (the group have since graduated, and now range from 19-22 in age), poppy indie outfit The Greeting Committee bonded over a shared musical aesthetic and aspirations (Brandon and Austin are lifelong friends, and Addie had been making music on her own, before prompting the guys to come together as a band), forming the group in 2014, and self-releasing their eclectic debut EP, It’s Not All That Bad, not long after. Soon attracting the attention of radio personality Lazlo Geiger, who helped give them career guidance, as well as popular indie label Harvest Records, who signed them and re-released their debut and subsequent efforts, the band’s earnest, poppy, indie mix, influenced by acts like The Strokes, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Florence + the Machine, earned them a swift early following and critical acclaim while still in school. In the subsequent years, the quartet released a 2017 second EP, Meeting People Is Easy, and, last year, their long-awaited full-length debut, This Is It, maturing and honing their sound with a polished pop sheen, raw and personal lyricism, and driving and eclectic indie rock bite. They’ve already shared the stage with acts like Tennis, The Mowgli’s, Saint Motel, Arkells, and Jukebox the Ghost, and have appeared at events like Lollapalooza and SXSW, amassing a respectable, organic fanbase along the way. A young act with seemingly limitless potential, we urge you to catch The Greeting Committee headlining intimate clubs like this while you still can!
