Looking for a last hoorah before the collective holiday shut-down? Then look no further than The Basement East tonight, Dec. 21 when Athens, Ga based rockers New Madrid are coming back to town to play their best cuts from their latest LP, magnetkingmagnetqueen. They’ll be joined by influential rocker David Barbe and Inward Dream Ebb, as well as experimental indie duo Illiterate Light. Tickets are still available currently on sale here, and you can read more about the artists below!

NEW MADRID

Athens, Ga. based New Madrid have cemented a dedicated following with their no-holds-barred brand of fuzzy and unfiltered rock and roll. In 2012, they released their debut LP Yardboat, which earned huge acclaim both online and in their hometown. Since then, their throwback-inspired sound has evolved into its own psychedelic machine. Their latest album,  magnetkingmagnetqueen, channels their influences like Yo La Tengo while staying true to the sound that earned them acclaim so quickly. Experience their killer live show for yourself and check out their song “Don’t Hold Me Now” below.

DAVID BARBE & INWARD DREAM EBB

A staple of the Athens, Ga. music scene, David Barbe is known for his work in influential noise bands like Mercyland and Buzz Hungry in the 1980s. Since then, he’s released three solo records and spend years working as an engineer and producer for acts like The Drive-By Truckers, Son Volt and current tourmates New Madrid. In August, he released his first new album in seven years, 10th of Seas, which shows off a softer side and sound.

ILLITERATE LIGHT

Best friends Jake Cochran and Jeff Gorman formed their fuzzy indie-rock band Illiterate Light after spending years playing and performing alongside each other in various projects. Hailing from Harrisonburg, Va., the pair spent time performing at local breweries and other venues across Washington D.C., Charlottesville and the surrounding areas while working side gigs to fund their musical endeavors. In 2015, they released their debut EP Langue, showcasing their experimental, ’60s and ’70s inspired style. Earlier this year, they dropped their Ego Flora I EP, which uniquely tackles subjects like classism, loneliness and the search for meaning in life.

New Madrid, David Barbe & Inward Dream Ebb, and Illiterate Light will perform tonight, Dec. 21 at The Basement East. The show is 21+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $12.
