Celebrating their milestone 40th anniversary as band, seminal Los Angeles punk group X have announced a spring run of anniversary shows, which returns them to City Winery on May 7. Best known for their debut, 1980’s Los Angeles, a milestone in first wave punk, and legendary followup, 1981’s Wild Gift, frequently counted among the best records of all time, the band were unique in their affinity for rockabilly, country, folk, and roots music, which transformed their sound over time, and took them into an influential and commercially viable run in the ’80s. Though they’ve split a few times and seen members come and go, the band are still intact, and still original, opting to focus on their legacy instead of force new material, with increasing activity in recent years. Their 40th anniversary run should be an extra special retrospective, and a chance to see one of the most legendary and also one of the most criminally under-appreciated punk groups of all time, so we highly suggest that you grab tickets here while you can!
