While there’s certainly no shortage of New Year’s Eve events in Nashville, especially if you’re hoping to see some live music (we’ve told you about a few shows already, and have a full guide forthcoming), the biggest and most prestigious event of all is the city’s own free, downtown party, now dubbed “Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville.” The free, annual, all ages happening has historically taken place on Lower Broadway, though, due to an ever-increasing turnout, will move just a bit north this year to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Lower Broad will be outfitted with a huge screen for those who want to watch the note drop and free night of music without living the vicinity of Honky Tonk Row, and a secondary fireworks show will take place across the Cumberland, with shuttles running between the main event and downtown all night.
Keeping the annual tradition of attempting to provide music to appease both the touristy, country loving crowd as well as rock fans, this year’s extravaganza features Keith Urban, Styx, A Thousand Horses, site favorites Moon Taxi, Charlie Worsham, and The Fisk Jubilee Singers. In order to help you plan out your evening, if you are indeed bent on braving the craziness of downtown, the full schedule has just dropped.
