Fans of fuzz covered garage rock have something to get very excited about, because friends of the blog That’s My Kid have some big news. They’ll be releasing their new EP, Day Dreamer, on Friday Sept. 30, AND they’ll be playing a very special record release show at The OG Basement, with help from like minded performers Ian Ferguson, and Kellen of Troy. Tickets to this show are currently available for $5 in advance, or $7 at the door, but if you’re feeling like the music gods are smiling on you, enter for your chance to win free tickets after the jump. While you’re here, learn more about some of the best musicians in the growing Music City garage rock scene, and, win or lose, we better see your as at this show!

THAT’S MY KID

Garage punks with a love of fuzz pedals and the blues, That’s My Kid have become one of our favorite indie bands in the entire local scene. The power trio have been building momentum the tried and true way, one blow out performance at a time, including an incredible set as part of our No Country Presents partnership with Acme. Their self-titled debut (stylized as TMK) blew us away, and their total willingness to perform anywhere around town at the drop of hat, on pretty much any bill, shows us that they’ve got the right work ethic too. Their new release, Day Dreamer, was recorded at The Bomb Shelter with help from Andrija Tokic, and based on our first listen it’s more of their brand of rock ’n’ roll that we’ve grown to know and love. Check out the lead single, “If I Was Your Man, “ below, and give one of the hardest working bands in Nashville some love when you see what all the hubbub is about for yourself during the EP release show on Friday Sept. 30.

IAN FERGUSON

Yet another one of our No Country Presents alum who keeps popping up all over town, Ian Ferguson, and his kick ass band, are ready to rock in the support spot. Of course, we have to mention his time with one of our favorite now-defunct Nashville bands, The Kingston Springs, but after gigging it up with his new mates, Ian has a whole new bag of tricks. Expect to hear his trademark raw, bluesy, rock and roll vibes that made the Springs an instant success, but with a different kind of psych/fuzz/garage edge that gives his new music a very different feel. Ian recently contributed to a compilation for Ron Gallo’s incredible American Diamonds Vol. 1 compilation with a track titled “State Of Gold.”  You can check that out below to get a taste of what Ian is all about these days.

KELLEN OF TROY

Also formed from some of the ashes of beloved, by-gone band The Apache Relay, Kellen of Troy is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Kellen Wenrich. He was known as the fiddle player in AR, but also plays guitar, drums and sings… sometimes, even simultaneously, like in his latest video for the single “So You Found Yourself a Rockstar.” KOT has a debut LP, Posthumous Release, already in the can, but no word yet on a release date. We dig what we’ve seen of his live show though, and you should make it a point to get to The Basement early to see him live for yourself.
