Paramore Recording New Album with Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Former Drummer Zac Farro

Earlier this year, local rockers Paramore confirmed that they were writing a new album following the departure of bassist and founding member Jeremy Davis; the followup to their Grammy award winning, critical and commercial smash self-titled fourth effort, released in 2013. Writing seems to have transitioned to recording in recent weeks here in the Nashville (or Franklin) area, apparently re-teaming the group with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who helmed their last LP.

Earlier this month, the band began teasing the involvement of drummer Zac Farro, who, along with his brother Josh, helped found Paramore in 2004, before departing (on somewhat rocky terms) in 2010. “Official” confirmation came a few days ago, when the band account posted a photo of Zac behind the kit with the caption “making an album” (see below). While it is unclear, and perhaps unlikely, whether Zac will return to performing with the group in a more permanent capacity (his solo career as HalfNoise still going strong), fans will undoubtedly still be excited to hear Farro on drums for the first time since 2009’s Brand New Eyes.

Though Paramore’s as yet untitled fifth album doesn’t yet have a release date, we wouldn’t be surprised if new music arrives before the year’s end. We’ll be sure to let you know when news develops!
