As we told you when it announced in March, singer-songwriter and living legend Neil Young returns to Nashville tonight to help kick off the first month of the 2016 season at Ascend Amphitheater. While this is the first formal Nashville date in six years, the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame inductee certainly is no stranger to Music City, as he and Jack White have struck up quite the friendship recently. Given the long time between formal shows and the age of one of rock’s true living legends, it comes as a surprise that tickets still remain for the show tonight. You can snag seats from $100 to $200, or grab a spot on the lawn for only $35.
This tour also includes Willie Nelson’s son, Lukas, and his band Promise Of The Real, who have been Neil’s backing band for several years now. Lukas, whose band name is inspired by lyrics from “Walk On,” formed the project after going to see Young in concert in Los Angeles, and the rest reads like a fan boy memoir with Promise Of The Real playing on and touring with Young for his last album, The Monsanto Years.
The two “hippie surfer cowboys” appear to be the perfect match, and you can expect a nice mixture of tracks that the two have collaborated on during the past few years, with, of course, a solid helping of sing along worthy super hits from the master himself. Yes, it’s a pretty big last minute nut to swallow to see this show tonight; but, let’s face it, Young isn’t getting any younger, and, at $35 for a lawn seat, this is a pretty damn good deal. Head below to listen to the track that ultimately inspired the relationship, and we’ll be singing with you tonight Nashville.
Neil Young + Promise Of The Real perform tonight (April 28) at Ascend Amphitheater. The show is all ages, begins at 7 p.m., and tickets are available ranging from $35 to $199.
