Georgia-based alt rockers Futurebirds are back in town for a headlining performance at 3rd and Lindsley on April 17. If you somehow missed their stop at Mercy Lounge last October, you skipped a dreamy live performance that mixed the rebellious style of southern rock with the grungy psychedelia of the 1970s. This time around, they are bringing along local synth pop darling Tristen as support, so why haven’t you bought your tickets yet? They are still available for only $12.00, but we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one very lucky reader. Click below for your chance to win and to find out more about this awesome show.

FUTUREBIRDS

Indie rockers Futurebirds hail from Athens, Georgia, and have been making waves with their experimental alt-country sound since 2008. After the release of their debut album, 2010’s Hampton’s Lullaby, and their follow-up EP Via Flamina, they became known for their distinctive mixture of pedal steel and electric guitar. At the same time, they quickly developed a strong stage presence, which has helped them gain a strong legion of fans who come out to show after show.

With the release of their third album Hotel Parties, the band showcased a fuller and more mature sound that showed just how far they’d come musically in just seven years. As alt-country steadily grows in popularity, Futurebirds still manages to create music outside the norm. Make sure you’re at 3rd and Lindsley to see their impressive live show for yourself.

TRISTEN

Between traveling across the world as Jenny Lewis’ keyboardist and working on her own solo projects, it’s hard to catch Tristen performing in her own hometown these days. Fresh off a whirlwind national tour opening for The Weeks, she’s back to supply some of our favorite cuts from 2013’s wonderful CAVES and 2011’s Charlatans At The Garden Gate. Although it’s unclear if she’ll have any new material to share, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that a new album is coming sooner rather than later.
