Thao & The Get Down Stay Down are a powerhouse band and longtime site favorite. Led by vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Thao Nguyen, the San Francisco-based group originated in Virginia, and we can’t get enough of their upbeat folk rock (you might recognize their song “Holy Roller” from our Spotify playlist). The band have released three full-length albums, and have just announced their fourth, A Man Alive, due out March 4, which is set to drop via Ribbon Music and features production from Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards, who worked with Thao on her side project, Thao + Mirah in 2011. Along with the announcement of their upcoming LP, Thao just premiered a new single, “Nobody Dies,” which is a high-energy, danceable track that we can’t stop spinning. Check it out below, and be sure to catch Thao and the Get Down Stay Down when they come through town at Mercy Lounge on April 6! You can get $15 tickets here; the band are known for fun live shows, so you don’t want to miss this.
