Well friends, sometimes good things must come to an end, and in this situation, that good thing is Sol Cat. Yes yes, we know, take a minute to dry your eye. They’re a band we’ve throughly enjoyed covering over the years, and one we’ve had the privilege of getting to know a little bit as we both navigated through the music world in Nashville. However, before we get all misty eyed, we need to tell you about their LAST HOMETOWN SHOW EVER which will start EARLY tonight (around 6 pm) at The Pavilion East. Oh, and its also free. Get there on time, and help fellow resident rockers Chrome Pony, plus Ranch Ghost send off the headliners proper on their farewell performance.
SOL CAT
We’ve been writing about Sol Cat for about as long as they’ve been a band, and we’ve watched their long-standing psychedelic and groove-rock tendencies morph into a tighter, broader style which includes poppier arrangements and more electronics. They can also boast a Road to Bonnaroo victory, in addition to playing our showcase, which makes it even harder to announce it’s their last Nashville show (they’re last slated performance is coming up at ACL Fest). The good news? A new EP, Uno, dropped earlier this year, so there’s still some new music to enjoy. Also, since they are all calling it quits, it should be one hell of a show. Who wouldn’t want to go out with a bang? Don’t miss your last chance to see a local indie band that will live in Music City folklore for years to come.
CHROME PONY
Another longtime site favorite, locals Chrome Pony made their Acme debut a few months back with The Lees of Memory, before also playing our Road To Bonnaroo Winner showcase with Sol Cat. Founded by Indiana-bred brothers Tyler and Kyle Davis, Chrome Pony pull influences from psychedelic, punk, garage, and good old fashioned rock and roll, culminating in a fantastic, fuzzy, and fiercely original voice of their own. The group’s latest EP, You Are the Pisces, dropped last year, and you can have a taste below.
RANCH GHOST
Continuing a trend with this bill, we’ve followed hometown heroes Ranch Ghost for several years now as well. Their nuanced psychedelic, surf rock has a distinct ‘60s influence that will pair well with Sol Cat & C Pony. If you haven’t heard them play yet, tonight’s a great FREE opportunity to see them on a good bill ahead of their recently announced Halloween show with Jeff the Brotherhood and Diarrhea Planet at the War Memorial.
Sol Cat, Chrome Pony, and Ranch Ghost will perform TONIGHT at The Pavilion East (1106 Fatherland St. in East Nashville). The show begins at 6 pm, goes till 10 pm, and it’s 100% FREE.
