It’s only been two months since this year’s Bonnaroo, but, per usual, the annual, Manchester, TN-based music and arts fest is already eying plans for next year, starting, of course, with officially announcing the dates. This shouldn’t come as much of a shock for ‘Roo diehards, since the fest has taken place the second weekend of June for a number of years now, but, now under LiveNation ownership (though still organized and run by the same founding team), we guess it could have been the year to buck tradition, if ever there was going to be one. But no, like clockwork, one thing we can surely count on each and every June until the end of time, ‘Roo will return June 9-12, 2016.
Last year, lineup announcements arrived on an accelerated schedule, but you still shouldn’t expect any major artist announcements until the new year. This marks the festival’s 15th year, so we’d wager it’ll be an extra special one! Look for ticket pre-sales to go live around Thanksgiving, and relive our two part coverage of the 2015 event here and here.
While Bonnaroo itself is a well-oiled machine at this point, one thing that could shake up tradition is the possibility of a second, country-themed event a la Stagecoach or or Shaky Boots at a later date to be determined- something that’s surely been a long time coming ever since the organizers bought the land a few years back. We’ll keep you updated as details materialize.
