We previously brought you Rayland Baxter’s first single “Yellow Eyes”, from his highly anticipated Imaginary Man album, which releases via ATO Records on August 14th, and he just drops another single, “Mr Rodriguez”, which you can stream below. The new single was inspired by legendary Detroit musician Sixto Rodriguez, and the poppy, laid back jaunt made us question if we were listening to a lost Paul Simon track.
Imaginary Man is the follow-up to Baxter’s highly praised debut feathers & fishHooks, which was released in 2012, and the new album was produced by Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Diamond Rugs) and Eric Masse (Andrew Combs, Robert Ellis) and features Bucky Baxter on pedal steel as well as Jessie Baylin, Isaaca Byrd (MYZICA), Mikky Ekko, Jordan Lehning (Caitlin Rose, Steelism) and Matt Vazquez (Delta Sprit) on background vocals.
