Lieutenant-620

Apparently Jeremy Enigk isn’t the only former (er, current?) Sunny Day Real Estate member plotting a solo performance in Nashville in the coming months. SDRE bassist Nate Mendel (who you might also know from a little ol’ band called the Foo Fighters) unveiled a new solo project dubbed Lieutenant a few weeks back, which, for the first time, puts him front and center on guitar and vocals. Set to release his solo debut, If I Kill This Thing We’re All Going To Eat For A Week, March 10 via Dine Alone Records, Mendel recorded at the Foos’ studio with the help of members of Modest Mouse, The Shins, Helmet, The Melvins, The Head and the Heart, and even bandmates Jeremy Enigk (Sunny Day) and Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters). Live, Lieutenant boasts members of Fleet Foxes, Snow Patrol, and The Bronx, and, unless anything else gets added at SXSW (which is very possible) the group’s upcoming March 23 show at Exit/In with Yukon Blonde will only be their fifth live performance ever. Grab tickets now for a measly twelve and half bones, and listen to three of the LP’s nine tracks below!
