While we’re still in the slow season for shows (something that’s about to change very, very soon), January is a big month for announcements, and, this week, we brought you some exciting ones both in the form of festivals lineups and upcoming Nashville dates. On top of that, this week was full of great releases, more exciting contests, and reviews of some of the best of what’s been occupying our time lately. In case you missed anything, you’ll find everything we covered last week recapped below:

  • NO COUNTRY PRESENTS: Dara Sisterhen & Femke | Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Acme Feed & Seed
  • NEWS: Gogol Bordello, Jason Bonham, Pianos Become the Teeth, The Apache Relay, Peter Hook & The Light, Tigers Jaw, The Kooks, Panda Bear, Matt & Kim, The Maine, and Fall Out Boy announced Nashville dates.
  • NEWS: BoyMeetsWorld, Candy Hearts, I Killed the Prom Queen, Sirens and Sailors, and Youth in Revolt were added to this sumner’s Vans Warped Tour.
  • NEWS: Musicians Corner announced the lineup and details for their first-ever Band Together fundraiser.
  • NEWS: Shaky Knees, Hangout Fest, New Orleans Jazz Fest, CounterPoint, and Boston Calling unveiled their lineups for 2015.
  • NEWS: Mercy Lounge announced a free, stacked anniversary party on Jan. 24.
  • NEWS: Some of our favorite Nashville artists were added to SXSW in the third wave of announcements.
  • NEWS: Seryn announced the February release of their sophomore album along with a show at The High Watt.
  • NEWS: JEFF the Brotherhood announced their long-awaited new LP, and dropped a new single in support.
  • NEWS: Die Antwoord announced a March 20 performance at Marathon Music Works.
  • FEATURE: This Weekend in Nashville: Our staff highlighted the weekend’s best shows.
  • REVIEW: We went to The Grand Ole Opry House to catch Sam Smith‘s sold out return to Nashville.

  • SHOW: Chuck Mead, Eliot Bronson, Greyhounds, and Michaelis played Music City Roots.
  • RELEASE: Samlightning debuted a new song, “Bitterness,” featuring Laura James.
  • RELEASE: J.D. McPherson debuted a new track ahead of his Feb. 20 show at Mercy Lounge.
  • RELEASE: New local group Step Sisters premiered their debut single, “Vox Pop.”
  • RELEASE: Dr. Dog released a live album ahead of their March 27 show at The Ryman.
  • RELEASE: Phosphorescent premiered a new live single ahead of his upcoming performance at Exit/In.
  • VIDEO: Sleater-Kinney debuted a cameo-filled video new video, which was partially shot in Nashville.
  • VIDEO: Parquet Courts premiered a video for “Pretty Machines” ahead of their show at Exit/In.
  • FUN: Hump Day Diversion: Bonnaroo Lineup Announcement Megathon Video
  • CONTEST: Ticket Giveaway: Jack White | Jan. 28 at Bridgestone Arena
  • CONTEST: Ticket Giveaway: Phosphorescent | Jan. 29 at Exit/In
