Christmas Caroling Party-2014

On December 19th, we’re teaming up with old pals East Nashville Underground at The Stone Fox to bring you a night full of Christmas caroling fun with more than a dozen of your favorite local bands.  Those of you who joined us last year will remember arm in arm singing, shenanigans, laughs galore, and some awesome takes on the holiday standards.  This year we can expect the same from friends like Alanna Royale, *repeat repeat, Tesla Rossa, Steve Lee, Hot Tub Club, and Waterfall Wash. There are sure to be some hushed moments when Luella & Tim Carroll or Liza Anne take the stage, and it will be an evening for you to get to know some of the fastest rising acts in Nashville like Jung Youth, Ugly Kids Club, Hotel War, Diamond Carter, Photo Ops, Gardening Not Architecture, Buffalo Rodeo, American Dream, That’s My Kid, Heathen Sons, Tetherball, and Twiggs!

Want more?  No problem.  This sucker is FREE!  That’s right.  Come one, come all to this celebration of friends and music at The Stone Fox starting at 7pm on December 19th!  We’ll have printed caroling books compliments of JIVE! in case you don’t know the lyrics, and we’ll also be keeping it charitable again this year with a canned food drive (for humans and pets).  So, get in the holiday spirit, and regift those refried beans!

For the rest of the week, we’ll be getting you in the mood with little previews of each of the bands that will be performing carols on Friday.  We gave a glimpse into Alanna Royale, *repeat repeat, Tesla Rossa, and American Dream on Monday, spent time with Waterfall Wash, Steve Lee, Hot Tub Club, and Heathen Sons on Tuesday, and brought you the star spangled previews of Jung Youth, Diamond Carter, Photo Ops, and Gardening Not Architecture on Wednesday. Head below to get acquainted with even more performers, and make sure you RSVP at the Facebook event page.

LUELLA & TIM CARROLL

Two huge forces in the local scene come together for one special carol on Friday night.  Luella Wood (formerly of Luella & The Sun) and song man Tim Carroll have been putting on a few performances together of late, and we were thrilled when they called to ask if they could be on board this year.  Those of you that attended last year will probably remember Luella’s solo performance of “Oh Holy Night”, and when you think of it the little hairs on your arms will probably stand straight up again.  Been wondering what Luella has been up to lately?  Check out this sneak preview from the new Crackerboots project that she is involved in.

BUFFALO RODEO

Talk about a band on the rise.  Buffalo Rodeo has been on bills all over town recently.  They just played with Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes last weekend, and are certainly someone to keep your eye on.  Their subtly different take on indie rock has quickly brought this band from occassional opener to practically co-headliners in a short period of time.  If they aren’t already on your radar, you probably need to get your radar serviced.

TETHERBALL

Tetherball is the project of Steve Voss that really made a splash this fall with the release of Whimsy.  We’ve run through the record a few times now, and are blown away by the drastic change in tempo between songs and roller coaster of emotions that the album evokes.  The creativity that Voss brought to Whimsy is what has us really excited to hear his take on a Christmas standard.  Understand our excitement for yourself below.

HOTEL WAR

Hotel War’s recent release Nashville Nights is a barn burner of throwback 80’s rock, and is appropriate for their live in your face rock party.  If you haven’t given that record a spin yet, check out the track below, and then click through to their soundcloud page for the full record.  We’re not naming the songs that each band is playing in advance, but fans of Chevy Chase will want to make sure they stick around for Hotel War’s carol.

The Third Annual Christmas Carol Show takes place Friday (12/19/14) at The Stone Fox. The show is 18+, begins at 7pm (doors at 6pm), and it’s totally FREE!
