Staten Island’s instrumental funk-soul group The Budos Band, Houston’s The Tontons, and Nashville’s own Kansas Bible Company are bringing their varied flavors of soul music to fans at Exit/In tonight. This edition of Red Bull Sound Select Presents is guaranteed to be a night of high energy music blasting from the stage and high energy gyrations rising from the crowd.
This one gets started around 8pm, and you can nail down tickets for an amazing $3 with an RSVP here. Check out below for more info and videos from each band.
The Budos Band
The Budos Band serves their funk-soul on a plate of Afro-beat with a drum kit and three percussionists. It takes some serious musical talent and exciting songs to keep audiences engaged in an instrumental performance, and this band brings all that in spades.
The Tontons soulfully blend psychedelic blues with indie rock in a way that is unique but still very accessible. Asli Omar’s voice has a beauty and strength that immediately demands your attention, and the rest of the band keeps things moving in a way that keeps you on your toes.
Kansas Bible Company
This 12-piece band gets a lot of attention from us, and it’s easy to see why. Kansas Bible Company’s five-man horn line, three guitarists, two percussionists, one bass, and keys pull influence from a broad range of acts including Gorillaz, The Rolling Stones, Weezer, Sam and Dave, and many more.
Budos Band, The Tontons, and Kansas Bible Company will perform Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Exit/In. The show is 18+, begins at 9pm (doors at 8pm), and tickets are available for $3.
