Six years. That’s how long it’s been since indie pop songstress Jenny Lewis last played a proper solo date in Nashville. She blew us away this summer at Forecastle Fest in Louisville, and her latest release, The Voyager, is a contender for our favorite of the year, so understandably, we were disappointed when Lewis wasn’t on the bill for Ray LaMontagne’s recent Nashville stop (during their joint tour), then ecstatic when the singer announced a headlining date Nov. 15 at Marathon Music Works with Waxahatchee! You can still pick up tickets here for what is sure to be one of the fall’s best shows, or, if you’d like to try your luck for a chance to win a pair, keep reading for more about the show and details on how to enter!

JENNY LEWIS

Rising to prominence as a member of acclaimed bands Rilo Kiley and The Postal Service, former child actor turned musician Jenny Lewis branched out as a solo performer in the late ’00s, churning out collaborations with the likes of The Watson Twins and boyfriend Jonathan Rice (under the moniker Jenny and Johnny) as well as producing two fantastic solo studio albums. Her latest, the Ryan Adams produced The Voyager, is perhaps Jenny’s best yet, combining her knack for crafting nuanced, eclectic, and harmony laden indie rock with poppier sensibilities. Lewis is a true musical treasure, and is a fantastic performer. New fan or old, her show is one you should not miss.

WAXAHATCHEE

Philadelphia based Waxahatchee, helmed by singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield, is an eclectic, indie rock/folk driven project that has been turning heads for the past several years. With two full-lengths, 2012’s American Weekend and 2013’s Cerulean Salt, under her belt, Crutchfield has been praised by numerous distinguished press outlets, and has amassed a pretty devoted underground fan base in just a few short years. She’s an excellent compliment to Jenny Lewis’s musical style, and makes this show a definite one to show up early for.
