 Hooray For The Riff Raff-620

Longtime No Country readers will no doubt recall the fall of ’12 when we collaborated with the fine folks at Mod Mobilian to host New Orleans act, Hurray For The Riff Raff, in a listening-room-style event at the very cool 615 Design (refresher here), when we covered their special acoustic set at The End last summer (right here!), and when we gave away tickets to their show with Shovels and Rope earlier this year (here!). With all this coverage, it’s easy to see we’re fans of Ms. Alynda Lee & Co. around these parts, and we’re pretty freaking excited to spread the word about HFTRR’s upcoming show at Mercy Lounge by giving you a chance to win a pair of tickets to the show!

If you’re the kind that likes to plan in advance, you can go ahead right now and ensure you’re gonna have an awesome Hump Day next week, and get your tickets for the July 16th show right this way. It’s just $15 in advance, doors open at 8pm and the show gets going shortly after 9pm. It’s 18+ and if you arrive in a timely fashion, you can catch new Nashville transplants, Clear Plastic Masks, opening things up in style.

HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF

HFTRR’s enigmatic front-woman, Alynda Lee Segara, has a voice that will stop you dead in your tracks, the kind that’s surprisingly sensual in its sorrowful sound. Since their first feature at No Country nearly two years ago, Alynda and her band have grown in both critical acclaim and national recognition, having recently played Conan and with a Forecastle date upcoming (more on that here). Check ’em out playing for Team Coco below, and don’t miss next week at Mercy Lounge where you’ll no doubt be treated to gems off their new record Small Town Heroes still available for streaming over at NPR.com (lucky you!)

CLEAR PLASTIC MASKS

Openers, Clear Plastic Masks, made their way to Music City after several stops, most significantly, NYC, but they claim to have found here what they lacked in New York, “a tight-knit scene putting itself on the map supported by a host of incredible bands.” Their sound is an adventure all over the map as well, citing “soulful crooning to raucous punk and gnarled grunge riffs” and “back to classic ‘60’s garage rock and near-‘50’s influenced sock hop rockers and ballads.” This show celebrates their release of Being There, which is out now on Serpents & Snakes Records. Give ’em a sneak peek below!

ENTER TO WIN TICKETS

Must be 18 to enter, per the show’s age requirements. A winner will be announced July 15th at noon, and will receive 2 tickets. For a bonus chance to win, RSVP to the event here, and share it on your Facebook wall. Enter below (you will be redirected to your e-mail, where you will need to hit send):
