We are so stoked for the Alaskan natives, Portugal. The Man‘s show at Cannery Ballroom coming up later this week that we are giving away a second set of tickets, just because we love them and ya’ll that much! If you’re a huge fan of their latest release Evil Friends or you’re just getting hip to the psychedelic, progressive indie rock behemoths, this is your chance to get completely up to speed for free. Warm-up act Quiet Life‘s Americana sounds will get you going before the headliners bring down the house!

Read on for contest details/line-up details and be sure to check out their introspective music video for “Modern Jesus” and don’t worry if you don’t win; you can always just buy tickets for $25 here …

PORTUGAL. THE MAN

We know it’s hard to believe but it’s been a year since we first heard Portugal. The Man’s summer anthem album Evil Friends (Atlantic Records), so the bad news is we’re all getting older, but the good news is they’ve probably written some new jams that they’ll be putting on showcase this Friday. Equally impressive, that was their seventh studio album, so if you’ve never dug into their crate of amazing tunage do so now. They also appear to be some very proactive dudes, launching an initiative with the help of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo to save the severely endangered Sumatran tigers. They are raising awareness by releasing a limited edition “endangered song” single track record. It’s designed to deteriorate after multiple plays and will eventually disintegrate completely. There are ZERO digital copies of the song available online, so once the records are gone that’s it; just like the tigers unless we act now! Click this link to find out what the hell we are talking about and keep scrolling down to enter the contest.

QUIET LIFE

Bi-coastal up-beat, Americana folksters Quiet Life formed in New London, CT but now call Portland home. Currently touring in support last fall’s Wild Pack, they hope be the perfect hors d’oeuvre before our main course. Check out their music video for “Record Time” and be sure to get their early to see them live.
