The Preatures

Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup.  We’ll start from the bottom and work our way up, paying special attention to the smaller and lesser known acts on this year’s bill. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Band of the Day…

LEARN

The Preatures come to us from Sydney, Australia, so it’s understandable if some of our Nashville-based readers haven’t gotten a chance to acquaint themselves yet. We assure you, however, that it’ll be worth your time to give this five-piece a listen. Their most recent effort, an EP titled Is This How You Feel, is one of the most upbeat and engaging dance pop records we’ve heard in a long time. Fans of HAIM will certainly find something to love in The Preatures’ affinity for R&B, and the folky backbone present in much of their material will likely have you double checking just where this group hails from. We’ve really been digging the dual vocalist approach, and The Preatures do it with expertise, co-vocalists Isabella Manfredi and Gideon Bensen effortlessly trading leads and harmonizing, always in balance and never in excess. There are some really catchy guitar licks, and diverse and hypnotic instrumentation strewn throughout the record to boot. To get a taste of The Preatures, take a listen or watch some of the music below. We promise you’ll enjoy it.
