WATERFALL WASH
If the name Waterfall Wash sounds incredibly familiar, it’s because we’ve been keeping you in the loop about these guys for well over a year now- and not just because the lineup includes No Country alum Andrew Johnson; we’re genuinely huge fans. Whether it’s been at East Nashville Underground or our very own Christmas Carol Show, the numerous times we’ve had a chance to check out Waterfall Wash, they’ve consistently impressed, showcased a dynamic and ever-expanding range, and have matured into one of the best up and coming live acts in town.
Pairing Johnson with Michael Roddy, Matt Simms, and Wes Cramer, along with a whole host of guest contributors, Waterfall Wash are an experimental mesh of folk, indie, gospel, and rock. We weren’t sure what to expect with “Landmark,” and, though it showcases all of those elements, it lands in a more upbeat, driving folk rock realm that we would have guessed- and we love it! With soaring harmonies, infectious melodies, and expert and varied instrumentation, “Landmark” proves that sometimes the best things are worth waiting for. If you’ve been sleeping on this band, it’s time to wake up.
NATURAL OUTLAW
Nashville transplants Natural Outlaw (who are actually slated to go on last this evening, so be sure to stick around) have an affinity for Southern rock and alt-country, with an impressive and dynamic range and a penchant for dazzling crowds with their live performance chops.
SEXX
Local rockers Sexx are a bit of a hard band to describe. Channeling elements of punk, surf rock, and alternative, let’s just agree to call them awesome. They’re a bit of an odd man out on the bill, but between party-starting sound and high-energy stage show, we think they’ll be a welcome addition.
FOX AND THE BIRD
Hailing from Dallas, Tex., folk rockers Fox and the Bird are, perhaps, the most stylistically similar to Waterfall Wash on the bill, with an eclectic sound that draws from a wide array of influences. Get there early and show them a Nashville welcome!
Waterfall Wash, Natural Outlaw, Sexx, and Fox and the Bird will perform TONIGHT at fooBAR.too. The show is 21+, begins at 9 p.m., and tickets are available for $5 at the door.
