Unfamiliar with Chicago singer-songwriter Briar Rabbit? We bet you know a thing or two about his uncle, B.B. King. Though he takes a more straightforward pop approach than King (Rabbit is self-described as “thought-pop”), Briar channels his impressive knack for immersive, expertly crafted, and emotionally resonant compositions. Very much a unique performer in his own right, the singer’s latest full-length, From Your Bones, which dropped last week and is dripping with honest lyricism and gorgeous songwriting, really captured our attention.
Rabbit is currently on an intimate tour of the U.S. and you have not one but two opportunities to catch him live in Nashville, both at The Basement. The first is a late show tonight, Jan. 27, and features Briar in a headlining spot with Kirabelle Frabotta and Dave Armstrong supporting. The show kicks off at 9 p.m. and will run you $7 at the door. The second performance is tomorrow, Jan. 28, as part of The Basement’s “New Faces Night.” Though it’s free and begins at 8 p.m., it’ll be an abbreviated performance- we recommend catching tonight’s for the full experience. Check out lead single “So Long,” after the jump!
