As we told you last week, Atlanta indie rockers Manchester Orchestra are set to return to Cannery Ballroom on May 31, and they’re bringing some amazing other acts along: Balance & Composure and Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band. The show, which is 18+ and starts at 8 p.m., is on sale now for just $19. However, we’ve got a few tickets to give away to some lucky winners! After the jump, find out more about the show and how to enter!
MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA
Though they haven’t played Nashville in a couple of years, members of Manchester Orchestra have passed through more frequently in other side projects, most prominently Bad Books (which also features show opener Kevin Devine). The eclectic group have always been hard to pin down, appealing to fans of indie, alt, punk rock, and heavier music, and have never been ones to make the same record twice. Their three full-lengths have all been spectacular and the group’s upcoming fourth, Cope (check out first single “Top Notch” below), is one of our most-anticipated of 2014!
BALANCE & COMPOSURE
Whether or not you subscribe to the validity of the “emo revival” currently said to be underway, there’s no denying that something extra special is happening right now within that scene. One of the names frequently tossed around in that discussion, Pennsylvania’s Balance & Composure aren’t a conventionally “emo,” band, but, rather, an aggressive, melodic amalgamation of post-hardcore and emotional indie rock. Their latest, The Things We Think We’re Missing, is unbelievable, and Balance are truly one of the most exciting bands making music today.
KEVIN DEVINE & THE GODDAMN BAND
A longtime friend and tourmate of Manchester Orchestra, Brooklyn’s Kevin Devine is one of the most prolific, dynamic, and skilled songwriters around. We told you a lot about him before his recent stop at The High Watt, but here’s the cliff note version: after a six-figure Kickstarter campaign, Devine released his seventh and eighth albums at the same time late last year, one solo and one full band. His range, chops, attention to detail, and genre bending pop/rock/alt/folk sensibilities are unparalleled.
